Six months ago Pamela and Brice reached that low point after fighting an uphill battle to pay off their bills and severe debt.
Unable to keep up during this desperate time, they lost their home and with their daughter, Elaine, sought refuge at our Family Redirection Program’s emergency shelter.
Thankfully within only three weeks into their stay, Mercy House staff referred them to our CalWORKs program – a partnership with the County of Orange to quickly helped homeless families back into housing. Through this program, Pamela and her family moved into a new apartment, giving them the jump start they needed to get back on their feet.
Today, Brice is happily employed with a full time job, and is more fulfilled than ever. Pamela states,
“He has found a group of friends at his workplace and he laughs again… finally. Last week I accepted a job offer for a position as a social services caseworker after having spent well over a year searching for work that would allow me to support my daughter…Thanks to you, I’ve got my second wind.”
